Will Ford return Britain's famous marque to motorsport?

Ford are planning to buy a top Formula One team and use it to bring the Jaguar name into the sport, according to sources. It is believed that Ford has held discussions with Jordan and Benetton with a view to moving the Jaguar name straight into the top end of the grid.

Rumours also suggest that Ford have already decided that to compete with the likes of BMW and Mercedes in Formula One, they should introduce the Jaguar name instead of working to increase the profile of the Ford brand. It is also believed they wish to take on the role of engine and chassis manufacturer to gain as much credibility from the sport as Ferrari.
